*Open a run command and type:
services.msc click [OK] .
On the services window try to be sure the security Center is Started
Autmatically and security accounts manager also started the same with Windows
Firewall?internet Connection sharing (ICS) is started automatically.
If still that didn't bring up the firewall interface then open a Run Command
again and copy and paste this in the input text box:
rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132
%windir%\inf\netrass.inf
Restart Windows, and then run this command (from Command Prompt):
NETSH FIREWALL RESET

Windows Log on and Log off immediately

Fix:1. Boot using your winxp cd.2. Enter recovery console.3. at the command prompt go to
C:/windows/system32
4. next type:
copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
5. exit and reboot normally. You should now be able to logon. But you're not done yet!
6. run regedit
7. find the Userinit key in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\
8. modify the entry:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsaupdater.exe
so that it reads:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit.exe
That should do the trick! no reinstalling windows required!
or
copy c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe c:\windows\system32\wsaupdater.exe
expand d:\i386\userinit.ex_ c:\windows\system32
step1: expand d:\i386\userinit.ex_ C:\
step2: copy c:\userinit.exe c:\windows\system32

Generic host error (net disconnect after few minutes)
Step1.
Install Microsoft patch kb894391.
Step2.
Close Port 445:
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) by clicking Start menu, and then click the Run icon.to. In the small box that Opens, type: regedit then click the OK button. The Registry Editor will now have opened.3. Locate the following key in the registry:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\ParametersIn the right-hand side of the window find an option called TransportBindName.Double click that value, and then delete the default value, thus giving it a blank value.
Step3.
Close Port 135:
1. Then you must now navigate to the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OLEto. You will see there is a String Value called: EnableDCOMSet the value to: N (it should currently be Y)3. Close the Registry Editor. Shutdown and Restart your computer.

Conficker Removal Tool
Click Start > Run.
In the Run box, type the following: cmd
Click OK.
Type the following and then press Enter. cd..
Repeat the previous step until you get to the root level, or C:\>. Note that if your root drive is not C, the letter will be different.
At C:\> type the following: net stop dnscache
Press Enter. This disables the domain blocking feature of Conficker and you should now be able to reach security Web sites including ours. You should now be able to download the Conficker removal tool here
